The baby may even react to loud noises by jumping or moving.
Pregnancy Calendar: Week 18
Many moms-to-be can feel the baby moving around by week 18, and if you haven't yet you soon will. Your baby hears better now, and can faintly make out your voice and other sounds around you. The baby's reflexes are developing and their kidneys are now functioning. When your baby excretes urine, it is stored in your amniotic sac. The baby has also grown a protective coating called vemix and a fine layer of hair called lanugo for protection of their thin skin.

The baby's skin is losing its transparency and their eyebrows and head hair have become more visible. At this point, the baby's bone marrow starts to produce blood cells, and your baby can ingest sugars from within your amniotic fluid.
